Ioannis Antoniou
He was born in
Ammochostos in 1955. Having graduated from gymnasium, he went
on to study economics in Strasburg. But his interest in
ceramics made him return to Cyprus and train alongside a potter
in Pafos. On his return to Cyprus, he started to hold
exhibitions demonstrating his special talent in ceramics - a
talent that was a “necessity” for the artist. He was awarded
first prize in ceramics at the 2nd Baghdad Biennale,
which was held in 1989. In 1986, together with Hara Antoniou, he
co-founded Diaspro Art Centre in Nicosia. |
